Every year, U.S. corporations report revenue losses in the billions due to some sort of fraud and embezzlement. According to the ACFE website each fraud examiner was asked to provide detailed information on one fraud case he or she had personally investigated involving occupational fraud, an investigation that occurred within the last two years, an investigation that was closed and complete, and a case where the examiner was reasonably sure that the perpetrator had been identified. The report encompasses these surveys conducted by 959 Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs) throughout the country.
This report definitely provides great information on occupational fraud and abuse going on in our country and also offers a fantastic insight on fraud prevention and detection. It is an invaluable report offered by the ACFE that truly helps investigators formulate strategies to prevent such crimes.
The Association of Certified Fraud Examiner’s Report to the Nation on Occupational Fraud & Abuse is now available to download through their website. Download the 2008 Report to the Nation http://acfe.com/documents/2008-rttn.pdf
