I worked over 12 years in LP with over 1000 arrests, carrying a "badge" for all those years... I can probably count on two hands how many times I had to physically make and effort to "show the badge", I preferred not to because that would usually escalate a situation. Success of an apprehension is in the agents approach, presence, and verbiage, not in a piece of metal.

Sometimes its not always wise to take the bull by its horns!!

Good story!

That badge is a symbol of what you do for a living. And if you're professional, and treat people well, that badge can be carried with pride.
That badge is NOT a license. It does not give you any powers. It is not big enough to use as a shield. It is quite often hidden away while you're working surveillance.
So, DON'T LET IT GO TO YOUR HEAD! If you do, you may get gored. And not always of the bovine kind.

LOL! Scott that made me think of the line out of a great old John Huston black and white movie "Treasure of the Sierra Madre", when Humphrey Bogart hollers at the bandits that are pretending to be law enforcement and tells them to "show us your badges". And then the bad guy realizes he has been had hollers back "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges."

Perhaps it is you who does not understand, JetManJr... most of us believe that bail enforcement is a subset of the private investigation profession. In fact, in many states the legal requirement to work in bail fugitive recovery is that one possesses a private investigator's license.
