i would love nothing more than to see thepigroup take a backseat to another listserve for several reasons and most of those reasons have to do with transparency and the load of sh*t being orchestrated by the moderator(s).

i cannot tell if the moderators still include john grogan and / or robert scott these days.

i am aware of, or have been involved in, several very specific instances where thepigroup moderators will allow something negative to go out about a competitor but not something positive- even if it is a retraction of an original comment. that is nothing short of the abuse of the trust their members place in them as moderators of the listserve.

how they can continue to tout a "membership of over 4000 members" when the published yahoo figures are more like 3400 is totally beyond me and just dishonest.

who could have possibly believed the super secret squirrel poll someone at thepigroup conducted where the participants allegedly emailed in their choice of database providers to the moderator and lo and behold the database the moderator advertises (or owns) "won" with some unbelievable margin of votes when, in every other public poll I've ever seen, it doesn't even make the top 4.

btw- is it merely a coincidence that in this super secret squirrel poll the company where the winning database is obtaining much of their data came in second (when it usually comes in 3rd in public polling)?

my guess is probably not.

absolute power corrupts absolutely.

don't get me wrong, the owner of the listserve can do whatever they want to but at least be fair and honest with the members. yes, i remain a member and have avoided banishment thus far but really only for my own amusement.

good luck to mr. beers and this newsgroup - i hope it becomes wildly successful.
